Author Relays Stories of War Missions At Lecture

Just over a week after Chippewa Valley residents honored America’s Veterans, they’ll have one more opportunity to learn more about those who fought in foreign wars. On Nov. 20, Eau Claire native and author of PanAfrica: Across the Sahara in 1941, Tom Culbert, will present his novel at a free lecture at L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library. PanAfrica takes readers to Africa during World War II as American civilian employees of Pan American airlines left their jobs to carry out secret ally missions; they transported air crafts and warplanes to establish air routes for soldiers that led directly to the battle lines in Africa, Europe, and Asia. Culbert draws on his own experience – 21 years in the US Air Force and five living in Africa – to relay these stories
