Vernon begins distributing burned copies of his new recording to friends, seeking initial reactions.

My Old Kentucky Blog creates the first online post about Bon Iver with no outside push. They found it on MySpace.

Bon Iver manager Kyle Frenette distributes self-release copies of For Emma from his apartment.

The initial CD release shows (of the self-released version of the record) at the House of Rock in Eau Claire. At the two shows, one underage and one 21+, Vernon sold close to 250 of the 500 pressed albums.
