Dancing with the (Local) Stars

local celebs dance. what else do you need to know?

Dancing with the Stars competitors practice not falling over.

If you haven’t got your fix from former gymnastic and soap opera stars shaking their groove things on prime time television in über-revealing clothing, then you’ll be the first one in line to get tickets for our very own Dancing With the Eau Claire Stars benefit. The Eau Claire Children’s Theater and TV-18 are putting their own local stamp on the much loved format of non-professional dancers getting up and letting loose. The event, which is held at the Ramada Convention Center, will feature 10 local celebrities (including people from DECI, WQOW, Sheriff’s office, Country Jam, and cough-Volume One-cough) waltzing and freestyling their way to victory – or sweaty, agonizing defeat. The money raised will benefit the Eau Claire Children’s Theater, and included in the ticket price will be “premium seating, dinner, and the show.” I’m not sure if that means sweet leather couches or not, but one can only hope. The dancers will compete in two categories, a waltz and one other of their choice, to finally settle once the question of who’s a better dancer: attorneys or owners of limousine companies? It’s only speculation at this point, but my money will be on Eau Claire County Sheriff, Ron Cramer. The whole gun and cowboy hat thing could lead to some pretty amazing dance floor shenanigans. Here’s hoping for a B-boy competition next year.
