Eau Claire Folk Rock Trio Releases Debut EP

Sarah Dobs |

What started as a solo singer/songwriter project from Minneapolis is now a three-piece band with ties to Eau Claire. And now, Sky Lion is about to release a self-titled EP. Dexter Wolfe heads the folksy rock trio that also includes Jordan Morantez (bass/guitar/vocals) and Kevin Goff (drums/vocals). Up to now, the band has played infrequently in the Valley. But their EP release on October 22 at the UW-Eau Claire venue The Cabin will hopefully mark a shift that leads to more local performances. The album was finished in the summer of 2010, but Wolfe’s move from Minneapolis to UWEC delayed it until now. They describe their sound as a combination of: the rock of Wilco, folk sensibilities of Elliott Smith, and sonic sound of Radiohead. Find their works on Facebook, MySpace, and Bandcamp, or buy the disc at The Local Store.
