Hailing from the Powderhorn neighborhood of South Minneapolis, Prof is not your average rapper. Over the last few years he has taken the Midwest by storm with his wild antics, sharp-witted comedy, and southern style hip-hop. Prof’s well put together music videos and stage persona can only be described as one big party, and he has gained legions of hardcore fans (aka Gampos), who can’t wait to see what he comes up with next. After successful and extensive (separate) tours with Grieves, Soulcrate Music, Steddy P, and Atmosphere, as well as a collaboration album with Minneapolis heavyweight St Paul Slim, Prof is finally ready to give the Chippewa Valley and the rest of the Midwest a taste of what’s to come. His latest offering, King Gampo, is a project that can be described as asinine, self-indulgent, and narcissistic in a good way (I know that makes a lot of sense). With help from brother Ali, Ant from Atmosphere, and MTV Riff Raff, King Gampo builds on his past projects and details his worst memories and best parties. It is an album that makes you bob your head and shake your ass at the same time.
