A Mud Run from the People Behind Country Jam

Country Jam may be known as a party-fueled weekend of cut-off jean shorts, cowboy hats and country tunes, but come Sept. 19, it will also be known for its equally wild Mud Jam for charity. While the biggest obstacle Country Jam attendees face is racing to beat the other people making a beer run to the tent between shows, at this event, participants will face a grueling 26 obstacles along the 3-mile course. Each of the obstacles through the Country Jam grounds will be named after a location, landmark or object in the Eau Claire area, like the “Water Street Crawl” and the “Schlegelmilch Slide.” Those obstacles range from monkey bars, pyramid climbs, steep hills, muddy tunnels, a dumpster dive, wall climbs, and more. Post-race will be an after party with a handful of live bands performing throughout the afternoon to celebrate all those who ran. Proceeds for the event will benefit Bob’s House for Dogs, a local non-profit dog shelter. “This run isn’t just a 5K obstacle course,” said Brooke Butkus, an organizer for the event. “It is a day full of entertainment and helping a local non-profit reach their goal of opening another facility.”
