Sculpture Tour Seeks Local Submissions

V1 Staff |

Sculpture Tour Eau Claire – the organization behind the ongoing outdoor art gallery on the city’s streets – is seeking submissions from Chippewa Valley artists for consideration for next year’s tour. “In order to grow the tour, it is important that we encourage local and regional artists to submit their work and become involved,” says Executive Director Julie Pangallo. The 2015 exhibit features three local entries among its 34 sculptures, and Pangallo adds that there are opportunities beyond Eau Claire as well: “Local artists have their work on display in our sister cities – Mankato, Mason City, Sioux Falls, and Castlegar, Canada,” she says. If you’re an artist who has created a steel, ceramic, stone, or bronze sculpture that could withstand the elements and would appeal to a broad audience, you can find an entry form at sculpturetour.org. The deadline for submissions for next year’s tour is Oct. 1. Artists receive a $500 stipend for delivering their works, and have the opportunity of selling their works as well: In the past five years, buyers have snatched up more than $300,000 worth of sculpture, which is still on display in the Eau Claire area.
