The Lucette Brewery Company, a brewery and pizza eatery in Menomonie, recently welcomed a stunning new glass mosaic project. A beautiful mosaic wall in the brewery serves as background to an imported Italian wood-fired oven, the centerpiece of the display. The design for the mural and pizza oven was crafted and constructed by Celeste Sullivan, a UW-Stout graduate. Sullivan wanted to unite aspects of beer and wood-fired pizza to create a design unique to Lucette. “I thought about what it means to have a brewery and what kind of aesthetic they were going for and feeling,” she said in a video for the university. Sullivan decided to conjoin wheat, one of the main ingredients in pizza, with hops, one of the main ingredients in beer. The mural is decorated with glass cut hops – green cone shaped flowers – and is also outfitted with complementing orange and red tones that represent the fire in the oven. The background of the mosaic is an array of shades of soft cream and wheat colors, which beautifully bring the whole design together. Each piece of glass on the mosaic was individually hand cut by Sullivan to better create a unique design. Check it out for yourself at 910 Hudson Road, Menomonie.
