Eau Claire’s top business group has a new top leader. David Minor has been hired as president and CEO of the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, the group announced May 30. Minor, who is currently president of the Superior-Douglas County Area Chamber of Commerce, will start his new job on July 1. According to a press release, Minor “will be responsible for the coordination of all organizational activities, including public affairs, strategic planning, economic development, programs, membership, and financial management.” He will replace Bob McCoy, who retired June 2 after 23 years at the Eau Claire chamber’s helm. Minor, a Wisconsin native, has been the chief staff member at the Superior-Douglas County chamber since 1996, previously served on the board of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (the statewide chamber), and is the past board chairman of both the Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce Executives and the Mid-America Chamber Executives. “David’s chamber industry experience and commitment to organizational excellence will help us further our mission of advancing business interests in the community,” said Mark Faanes, a partner at Wipfli’s Eau Claire office, who led the chamber’s search committee. The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce represents 1,250 member businesses in the Chippewa Valley.
