There's No Escaping History

Schlegelmilch House becomes spooky Halloween puzzle

Think back to the early 2000s: You have questionable highlights and you’re on your Dell computer, viciously pounding on the arrow keys on your keyboard. There’s a timer in the upper right-hand corner with only 3 seconds left. Your heart is pounding, your blood pressure is rising, and a big sigh of relief emerges from your lungs because you barely escaped. That’s right, I’m describing those time-consuming computer diversions known as room escape games. Now you have a chance to disengage from your computer and experience those feelings in the real world through a spooky escape game hosted by Chippewa Valley Museum. As a Halloween treat, the museum is banding together with escape room experts Tactical Escape 101 to bring you the Haunted Schlegelmilch Escape Room for an entire month! Running from Oct. 6 to Nov. 5 and located inside the historic 1871 Schlegelmilch House (517 S. Farwell St.), Chippewa Valley residents will be challenged to successfully break out of two newly designed horrifying rooms with an historical edge. For $30 per person you can reserve a time slot for a group of four-12, but be careful who you pick to be on your team because you only have an hour to complete your escape. This event also serves as an fundraiser: The Chippewa Valley Museum gets $10 for every reservation. Escape room games are fun and a great team-building experience, but the real question is: How good are you under pressure?
