Food Trucks Allowed in More Eau Claire Parks

You’ll likely be seeing more food trucks around Eau Claire in the near future. On Feb. 27, the Eau Claire City Council approved an ordinance expanding the list of parks where licensed food trucks can serve up mobile munchies year-round. New parks on that list include Boyd, Lakeshore, McDonough, and Half Moon Lake. (Trucks were already allowed in Owen, Phoenix, Carson, Riverview, Soccer, and Pinehurst parks.) In addition, the ordinance allows food trucks to serve from 4-7pm one evening a week during June, July, and August in five smaller parks: Newell, Cameron, Mitscher, Demmler, and County Farm. According to a city staff document accompanying the proposal, “The idea is to encourage neighborhoods to come out and have dinner together, in the park, one night a week. Statistics show that neighborhoods that know each other have less crime rates than those that do not.” So Eau Clairians, grab some grub and meet your neighbors!
