Get set for some for some larger-than-life musical performances coming our way this spring. In the last couple weeks, a handful of notable concert announcements have made their way across the collective V1 desk (we all work together at one giant desk), and needless to say we’re excited. At the head of the pack is Ani DiFranco performing at one of the last State Theatre concerts before the venue says goodbye.

The legendary critically-acclaimed artist – who had a guest feature from EC’s own Justin Vernon last spring on her latest record – will perform in Eau Claire on Friday, June 8. Tickets are available at www.eauclairearts.com.

Next the Pablo Center at the Confluence announced one of many performances to take place during its inaugural season: The Tallest Man on Earth, an Eaux Claires alum and prolific singer-songwriter, will stop by the arts center on November 18. Tickets are available at www.pablocenter.org.

And finally country legend Steve Earle will make an appearance at the State Theatre on Sunday, June 3. Tickets are on sale now at www.eauclairearts.com.

Hot off the presses is the new single from the Jim Pullman Band, “Awkward In Love.” The piano-driven track find Pullman occupying a warm space between The Beatles and Tom Petty, and relishing his time there. Along with the track comes the announcement of a whole new full length album from the band – their first since 2014’s Monarchs. It’s called Atomic Dream, and it’s due out in May. To hear the new track, check out jimpullman.bandcamp.com.

A new band called Moon Ruin is starting to get ready to rumble with an album that’s been in making for nearly five years. It’s the project of Illinois native Jared Bartman, but he brings along Eau Claire folks like Mike Noyce and Dave Power to boost his experimental electronic tunes. The band has already got a couple of cool single premieres on music blogs PopMatters and Glide Magazine. The debat album Slow Down Ego drops April 6, and the band is making a stop in Eau Claire on April 13 for a free show at The Mousetrap with locals Sloslylove and Two Castles.
