The ol' city hall.
The ol' city hall.

If you’ve driven down Farwell Street anytime over the past year you’ve likely noticed extensive exterior renovations going on at City Hall, 203 S. Farwell St. This summer, those renovations will turn inward, forcing city offices to relocate temporarily. On May 8, the Eau Claire City Council approved an agreement to lease a building at 2020 Prairie Lane to serve as city offices for one year, beginning July 1. The city will pay about $250,000 to lease the former 3M building on the city’s north side. Most city offices will relocate there, although city staffers are exploring opening a small downtown service center that would provide some city functions at a more convenient location. In addition, the City Council will hold its meetings in the County Board Room at the Eau Claire County Courthouse instead of at the Prairie Lane building.
