“Firefight” by Jeremy Borchert
ink and watercolor, 18” x 24”, 2018

Jeremy Borchert is an illustrator studying at UWEC. His inspiration stems from video games and movies he experiences. He hopes to share his creativity as a concept artist.

“My mission as an artist is to create work that inspires a need for adventure. For me, the best thing about creating is drawing characters, vehicles, armors, and weapons that bring new worlds to life. Narrative pieces are certainly my favorite to create. The more a viewer looks and thinks about my work, the more there is to gain from it. My piece “Firefight” portrays characters facing insurmountable odds. A struggling character is much more interesting than one with zero conflict. The premise of a hero’s journey has always intrigued me ever since I saw Star Wars as a kid. As I progress I hope to make new pieces while using inspiration from both my childhood and future experiences.” – The Artist

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a message.
