The cave of my heart says ' Beware ',
          be aware, not afraid -
          (there's a bear in there...)
We're hurtling towards the darkest day,
we'll come through it like the Sun
having shed unnecessaries, and still shedding
one by one - the dark reveals
what has begun - a New Year glimmers,
           kind, and fun.
Goodbye, unnecessary thoughts and worries
and I thank you for your troubles -
          (you are neutralized.)

I shake my shaggy behind,
     black bear's
   thick fur
walks into the forest
in my room, where the claws
     are hung on the wall,
    feathers from a lampshade -
the rug,  the bed,
      the chair...here I sit down
                      (the Bear)

Pamela Livingston discovered Eau Claire through the World Flute convention. The rivers and the writers called her back. Now working on a piece of non-fiction, her first published book of poetry is Songs of Genesee
