River Prairie Festival 2018
River Prairie Festival 2018

This year, the River Prairie Festival – a community event that celebrates everything there is to love about Altoona and the Chippewa Valley – will be held over Mother’s Day weekend on Saturday, May 11. The festival includes a variety of events, including a photography contest, a Mother’s Day maker’s market where you can explore the art market curated by Tangled Up in Hue and Blue Boxer Arts, and a farmers market curated by Josh Blaeser from Blaeser Farms. Enjoy a yoga or fitness class in the park hosted by a program instructor with Altoona Parks and Rec. Join a fun and interactive educational class taught by local experts and learn more about bike maintenance, foraging, birding, and gardening. Sign up with friends and family for a kubb or cribbage tournament or even the Rubber Ducky Race. This party in the park will also have music, dancing, a birding walk, rock painting, and a performance of “River Prairie Sings,” a youth vocal competition presented by the Luginbill Children’s Foundation. You can even bring your furry four-legged friend along to check out the Visit Eau Claire Airstream Activation. With pet-centric activities and a photo booth, no buddy will be left behind! The 2019 River Prairie Festival will tun 11am-5pm at River Prairie Park in Altoona. In addition to celebrating living in the Chippewa Valley, the festival will also serve as the kickoff to the 2019 season of programming in River Prairie Park.
