Hey Filmmakers! The Wisconsin Film Festival Wants Your Masterpiece

Tom Giffey |

Sure, showing your homemade slice of Sconnie cinema to your buddies on a laptop is fine, but wouldn’t you rather your work got the treatment it truly deserved, projected on a silver screen in front of a hushed audience in a darkened theater?

If so, consider entering your feature-length, short, or student film in the 2020 Wisconsin Film Festival in Madison. The annual fest requires that entries have a “Wisconsin connection,” which means the film was shot “primarily or significantly” in the state and/or one of the principal creative folks behind the film must have been born in Wisconsin, currently or formerly lived in Wisconsin, or have attended (or be attending) school in the Badger State.

The film may not have been completed before Jan. 1, 2019, and can be a “narrative, documentary, experimental, or animated work of any length.” Films are judged in the Wisconsin’s Own and Wisconsin’s Own Student categories, and a diverse collection of about 150 films will be screened during the festival, slated for April 2-9 next year. The final deadline for entering your film is 5pm Friday, Dec. 27, but submissions made by Dec. 1 will get an early-bird discount in entry fees.
