Going green? Not a problem for Earthbound Environmental Solutions, an eco-friendly waste management biz based in Eau Claire, which just received one of six top awards in the statewide Force for Positive Change competition.

This annual competition, now in its fourth year, is hosted by Marquette University and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, and aims to recognize “social entrepreneurship as a model for solving social or environmental challenges in a way that is sustainable, just, and generates impactful change in Wisconsin” through six $10,000 awards.

Earthbound Environmental Solutions was recognized for sustainability efforts through its landfill diversion services – known as “Organics Recycling/Curbside Composting,” through which compostable waste is processed at a local compost facility rather than ending up in landfills. Composting – rather than trashing organic items – helps grow food for families in the Chippewa Valley.

“Earthbound is incredibly honored to be recognized as part of this event,” said co-owner Jamie Pappas in a press release, “and even more so as a finalist and winner, alongside so many other impactful Wisconsin entrepreneurs. The tenacity, talent, and overall passion of the participating businesses is refreshing, motivating, and empowering.”
