TIME FOR A HOT GIRL WALK: TikTok Trend Inspires New E.C. Walking Group
the term ‘hot girl walk’ has become increasingly popular on social media, resulting in a new walking group to get to know other locals
You’re probably wondering, what’s a “hot girl walk?” While there isn’t a concrete definition, it involves walking with a certain confidence and swagger. It’s become trendy to take “hot girl walks” with friends not only to get outside but also to meet others around you.
This is what prompted Sammi Costello, general manager of the Eau Claire Express, to start a new walking group called “Eau Claire Girls Who Walk.” The group only started a few weeks ago, but they’ve already had two “hot girl walks” and will have more every Wednesday until the cold weather hits. The next walk, in fact, will be at 6pm Tuesday, July 26, on the campus trail around UW-Eau Claire.
“I saw a TikTok of these girls in Hoboken that just wanted to get people in their 20s and 30s together and outside walking,” Costello said. “I was like, ‘Oh we can definitely do that in Eau Claire.’ ”
Their goal is to walk around different parts of Eau Claire since there are many trails and outdoor spaces to explore. They will announce on their Instagram where they will be walking before each group meet-up.

Eau Claire is such an active town. There are always people who are walking, riding bikes, and going for runs. It just seems to fit with the lifestyle that is Eau Claire.

“Eau Claire is such an active town,” Costello said. “There are always people who are walking, riding bikes, and going for runs. It just seems to fit with the lifestyle that is Eau Claire.”
Costello said that while getting out and getting moving was the main motivator behind the creation of the group, she also expressed that it’s a great way to meet new people around the same age.
“Especially as you’re getting out of college, it’s sometimes harder to make friends when you’re new to the area,” Costello said. “So we really want to be a group where you can make new friends or bring old ones, and just have fun all together.”
While it may seem like only women can go on “hot girl walks," that’s not necessarily the case. As long as you show up with no judgment and with a fun vibe, Costello said anyone is invited to walk with them.
