Unconditional love comes in many forms. This time, it’s furry, playful, and cute: what more could you ask for? With big, lovable eyes and happy smiles, these cuddly creatures need your help. Alongside the national charity initiative, Clear the Shelters with Greater Good Charities, the Eau Claire County Humane Association (ECCHA) hopes to connect lonely, furry-friend hearts to their forever homes this August.

“We are just so full of animals that our staff is working extremely hard so they can ensure each animal is getting the care they need,” said Addie Erdmann, the shelter’s development director. With summer months being the busiest for homeless animals, ECCHA strives to provide the best care for all paws who walk in – big or small!

Staffed with professionals, the influx of animals in need still strains the resources the nonprofit can provide. “Like a lot of shelters, we are overflowing with animals who need to go to loving homes,” Addie said. “People can help by volunteering at the shelter or offering to foster an animal.”

Of course, another way to help is to adopt: any animal that is over 6 years old or has been at the shelter for more than 60 days currently has its adoption fees waived. More special offers and discounts on other animals are set to appear later this month. When you visit, discounted animals are marked with a sign on their cage.

ECCHA provides endless support for animals in need with internal programs like Community Pet Pantry, the Pet Transitional Living Program, the Barn Cat Program, and more initiatives to come. They plan to break ground on a new building next year, so any donations help their expanding efforts.

Gather the compassion in your heart for your favorite furry friends and get to action: help by donating to their many projects, adopt a forever friend, or volunteer for one-on-one help with lovable creatures of all ages and sizes. Any simple action you take means the world to an animal caged and homeless.
