Want to win a cash prize and benefit the Menomonie Lions Club’s service projects?

First prize wins $750, second prize is $250, third prize is $100, and in addition, 30 $25 drawing prizes will be given out. Then guess the day a race car (which would not sink in 2022!) will fall through the ice this spring on Lake Menomin. That’s all part of the fun of the Klunker on Ice, now in its 61st year and going strong since 1961.

Tickets are on sale in Menomonie at Builders First Source of Menomonie, 421 Oak Ave., and Dean & Sue’s Bar & Grill, 2002 Midway Road. Tickets are $5 each, three for $10, or 10 for $20, according to the Menomonie Lions Club Facebook page.

Last year, for the first time, the klunker was a race car, and it would not sink. This same car was put back on the ice again around New Year’s Day. The extreme efforts the club will go to this year to ensure the unsinkable will sink are secret and not being publicized.

Funds raised provide for its many service projects, including the Menomonie Lions Club Game Park, the Ted Wiehe Nature Trail, events such as Easter Egg Roll, Santa Call-in, Lions Spirit of Christmas, numerous shelters and ability swings in local parks, as well vision screenings in local schools and scholarships for Dunn County high school seniors, among many other worthy causes. The club is made up of civic-minded men and women and is a branch of Lions International.
