Carli Palmer is on your team. From working as an activity assistant in a long-term care facility and a respite care provider with Consumer Direct to her volunteer work with myTEAM TRIUMPH – a Wisconsin nonprofit aimed at providing support for people of different abilities to enjoy races and other events – Carli has her hands in a lot of pots. She’s passionate about the work she does with mTT, including every year for the Eau Claire Marathon.

I love volunteering with myTEAM TRIUMPH – it is a privilege to share people’s stories and time while helping them attend community running events!

What’s your passion?

I’m passionate about full inclusion of all society members: Eau Claire has a lot of work to do in the implementation of disability inclusion, racial equity and justice in the community, and safe schools for transgender and LGBTQIA youth.

What place in town considers you a “regular”?

My local places to go when not working or hanging with my fabulous children (two teenagers!): Dog parks, Blue Ox Running, and SHIFT. I like running and hiking in my free time.

Death bed, one meal from a local restaurant, what would it be?

Pad See Ew Thai Orchid or Oatmilk Latte and dairy-free Peanut Butter cookie from SHIFT.

Water Street or Downtown?

Gonna go with Water Street. Both kids and I love Truckers, Ver Salon, The Goat, Racy’s, Erbs ’n’ Gerbs ... something for everyone.

South side or north side?

North Side is home. Was a North H.S. student and my kids currently attend North and McKinley. My Mom taught at North as well. Everyone has dogs here! Love my North Side neighborhood.

What do you think the Chippewa Valley needs?

Community development projects should be having a more modern, inclusive community center for folks with disabilities – centered on employment, life skills, and recreation opportunities. We also need fair housing to address the needs of people who are struggling with both mental health and financial challenges. I am sure the Black and Latino community in Eau Claire would have more to add to the conversation about how Eau Claire could better meet their community’s needs.
