CALLING ALL ARTISTS! If you're looking to make your mark on Eau Claire, ColorBlock opened submissions to the 2024 summer mural programs.

In the dreary days of winter, we in the Chippewa Valley yearn for the days of more color. ColorBlock, a free public art project, has opened up its annual mural submissions from local artists to bring more vibrancy to the area. Anyone interested in creating a mural in the summer of 2024 has until April 1 to submit their application.

To apply, artists must fill out the application on Google Forms, submit up to three colored sketches of mural designs, and provide up to three examples of previous work. Artists under the age of 18 may participate with adult permission and supervision.

Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend, and basic paint colors and mixing supplies will be provided. Each mural site will be at least 40 square feet. Any questions about applications or projects can be directed to Julie Pangallo (julie@visiteauclaire.com), and the full list of requirements and rules can be found at visiteauclaire.com.

ColorBlock is responsible for numerous murals that have popped up in recent years in Eau Claire and Altoona on buildings, storage units, and even electrical boxes. Learn more about the program and see ColorBlock murals online.

If you're looking to brighten up your building, ColorBlock and Visit Eau Claire are also seeking locations to host murals in 2024. Anyone interested in showcasing a mural on their building can fill out the Google Form by Monday, Feb. 19.
