Grab those pens, pencils, or keyboards and get to writing – the Wisconsin People & Ideas magazine is holding its Fiction and Poetry contest and has extended the original submission deadline to March 31.

The first-place winners of the contest will receive a one-week artist residency at Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts in Mineral Point and a $500 cash prize. Second place will receive $250, and third place will win $100. All winners will be published in the print and online editions of Wisconsin People & Ideas and have a chance to read at the 2024 Wisconsin Book Festival.

The entry fee for the contest is $10 for Wisconsin Academy members and $15 for non-members. The fiction contest will be judged this year by award-winning essayist and writer Sean Enfield while the poetry entries will be judged by award-winning poet and UW-Eau Claire professor, Dorothy Chan.
