Coining her multitude of creations “DooDads,” Jamie Kyser considers the work a form of alchemy. Joining together various materials, all crafted by hand, Kyser’s work offers the wearer or owner complete whimsy in earthy tones, jewels, and inspiration.

An experienced jewelry maker for years, Kyser just recently turned to the art of electroform in January and is looking to make an impact.

Electroform uses metals as layers on a piece to join figures using low voltage charges. “I work with copper, rocks, crystals, and clay,” Kyser began. “Any portions of the piece I want to be copper, I paint with conductive paint, and any fragile stones get coated with a layer of latex to protect them from the acid bath. The piece is then submerged into the bath with copper pipe. Electricity is applied. Ions from the pipe are then transferred to my piece.” Each piece is unique and can take several days to complete.

Currently offering hand-crafted pendants, necklaces, earrings, and even an antler-horn wand online, Kyser plans to expand, posting stash jars, rings, and other jewels on social media. Drawn to the natural, mystical, and sometimes witchy, wearers will be able to feel the electricity of the art.

Folks can find Kyser’s work at Tangled Up In Hue (505 S. Barstow St., Eau Claire) The Homemade Market at Oakwood Mall, and at various art markets around Eau Claire (such as the Phoenix Park, Brewing Projekt, and Banbury Place markets). “My goal is to provide the Chippewa Valley with something unique and special,” she said. “I can only hope it is received with excitement and love.”
