Post 5 Record-Breaking Wisconsin Winter Weather…

replied to: I remember this! -60 in Rice Lake WI. Why…

I don’t know why the records don’t properly reflect this. Perhaps those who were responsible did not properly report or document this. That’s my guess. All you hear is the Couderay BS. What’s the point of having a record if it’s not correct? Anyone who was in the area at the time and was not sleeping in the early morning hours can testify to this temp. All of the thermometers in the area displayed the same -60, including the bank. With multiple temp readings all over the area, it becomes more difficult to say that they all were wrong.

Article 6 Bits of Downtown Data

I know there is a lot of talk about getting more housing for low & moderate income people downtown and they need it but I also know of a good number of people that are looking for market rate apts. downtown & there just isn't anything available. Between all these different groups of people, 4-6 new big multistory apts. could be built downtown/Cannery Dist. & easily filled.

Great to see this initiative - particularly during this cold and snowy winter in Eau Claire. A sustained effort to keep us healthy and connected during the short days might include more events at the Pablo (even just music and dancing in the lobby), night fire pits at Haymarket Plaza, subsidized gym memberships, and organized walks across the three bridges (Phoenix Park, Confluence and Grand Avenue). I'll bring these ideas to the Visit Eau Claire-Pablo Center meetings.

One of the most enjoyable activities is walking around at one of the great dog parks, we are blessed with. People are friendly, and the dogs running around being dogs, are fun to watch.

Out of the multitude of existing Mexican restaurants in Eau Claire, one would think they would want to hit a home run. This is far from it. They don’t make their own chips, their hottest sauce is a green tomatillo out of a jar and the food overpriced and sub par. Could quite possibly be the worst Mexican restaurant in the tri state area.

That’s just like your opinion, man. I had their street tacos $1.25, during happy hour & have been addicted since. Service is extremely fast, and knowing they are committed to sourcing LOCALLY makes a huge difference. Can’t wait until summer!

Correction...Nothing comes from a jar here. Juan has his own unique recipes for every salsa in house and makes them fresh every day. Please get the correct information before commenting in the future. Thanks.

Deanna - it looks like the city of Eau Claire recently got a new website, and that page is no where to be found.

I dropped in on the session at Shift, it looked like they were getting a lot of good input. I brought up the idea of a ski bus to help get more people out on the XC trails. For those people that don’t have a car it can be difficult to get out and ski.

But, they’re new and different, so it must be bad!

I wasn’t overly thrilled by the plan they chose for State & Lexington, but it’s still a big improvement over what’s there now. Overall, the State Street project looks really good.

I noticed in the city’s info that some the watermains that are getting replaced were installed in the 19-teens. I think we got our money’s worth out of those.

Ah, this sense of comfort is something I have felt in libraries since childhood. Well said, Nick!

Friendly staff and a great view. The food is more interesting than a place like Chipotle and the price is fair. I wasn't blown away by the food but liked it enough to want to go back

Having read Mr. Butler's entire works to date, and currently being almost finished with "Little Faith," I can say the following: Unlike so many young authors today - especially ones being promoted on Kindle and too many "local practitioners" - his character and story development is that of a consummate professional. He ranks right up there with the likes of John Grisham, and the late John D. Mac Donald. Great job in the broadest sense, Mr. Butler!
