Ribbons of Life

Do you appreciate a morning symphony of songbirds? Do you enjoy spotting an osprey soaring overhead? Is a refreshing swim in clean water part of a perfect summer day? These experiences depend on a healthy watershed and shorelands with native plants, shrubs and trees thriving in and around the shallow waters of lakes, rivers and streams. Natural shorelines attract an exceptional diversity of wildlife. John Haack, UW-Extension Emeritus Natural Resource Educator, will tell us about the features and creatures that create “Ribbons of Life” along Wisconsin’s shorelands and offer tips for shoreland stewards to improve the health of their shoreland and attract more wildlife.
