Chippewa Valley Museum delves deep with new blog series

The Chippewa Valley Museum is bringing an entirely new dimension to their upcoming exhibit Changing Currents: Reinventing the Chippewa Valley with their new Changing Currents blog (here and here). Each month leading up to the December grand opening of the exhibit, there will be a series of posts previewing a piece of Chippewa Valley history to be explored in each of the exhibit’s six sections – all of it intended to give readers a sneak peak of what’s to come. Posts will cover a variety of topics, ranging from trading rights to natural disasters, and each one promises to be uniquely surprising and compelling.

John Vanek, editor at the Chippewa Valley Museum, said the goal of the blog is to engage locals in the history of our community and to get people excited about the new exhibit. “The stories we’ve selected are ones that we think are interesting in and of themselves,” he said. “They’re the kind of history stories that are fun to read.”

The stories told are those of real people throughout the history of our region, about how they lived their fascinating, dramatic, and relatable lives (not so unlike our own). And who knows? Maybe in a hundred years, future Chippewa Vallians will be reading about your story in a museum exhibit.
