Autumn Treat: Apple Pie Taquitos

V1 Staff |

Are you looking for something new to make this autumn? Something that isn’t the same old apple pie, cake, or bars? Well, prepare to be inspired because these sweet, crispy apple pie taquitos are just begging to be baked! And they’re easy enough for little hands to join in the fun.

Ingredients

  • One 20-oz can of apple pie filling
  • Medium sized tortillas
  • Unsalted butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Granulated sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and grease the inside of a 9x13 glass casserole dish with butter.
  2. Mix together your cinnamon and sugar on a plate (these ingredients can be measured with your heart, or you can use one-half cup sugar with 1 tsp cinnamon).
  3. Empty the apple pie filling into a bowl, and chop up the big pieces to about the size of a nickel.
  4. Spoon a few tablespoons of apple pie filling onto a flat tortilla, and roll tightly.
  5. Brush the taquito with melted butter, then roll it in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  6. Place the finished taquito in the buttered casserole dish and repeat with the rest of your ingredients. A 20oz can of apple pie should be enough for 12 tortillas.
  7. Bake for roughly 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Best when served with a drizzle of caramel sauce or whipped cream on top!

Go Local

Substitute the canned pie filling for some homemade goodness! Cut up four to six apples (peeling optional), and place in pan. Add one-third cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 2 tablespoons butter. Heat on high-medium heat, stirring all the while, until the whole mess gets gooey and tasty.
