Skoog’s fosters a relaxed, yet upscale experience and supper club atmosphere in downtown Menomonie, complete with two waterfalls near the patio. Known for their excellent steaks and the "Skoog's Exclusive" popovers that accompany every entree, their menu also includes an array of fine dining options. They also have lighter fare like sandwiches and salads available. Check out the Friday night fish fry and salad bar. Banquet facility can accommodate 100 people. Vegetarian friendly, Sunday brunch.

It's been over 8 years since I wrote a review for Skoogs. We had a bad experience on New Years Eve 2009 -(Dec 31, 2008), & hadn't gone back for awhile. We did go there for fish on a Friday night when we had friends & relatives in town & had an excellent experience. Since then we have dined at Skoog's many times and have had only good experiences. We enjoy their fish fry, as it comes with soup & salad bar & popover, and Sunday brunch is hard to beat.

While the atmosphere and the food were good, the slowness of service was notable. From waiting to be seated to placing and then receiving drink and food orders, it was a very slow process. There was only one other table with customers in the dining area that I could see, and maybe 3 people sitting nearby at the bar. Woukd probably go back, but not with anyone that expects any level of service when dining out.

We've been there a couple times... if you like a little more upscale food (other than the Mom & Pop stuff), this place is excellent. Salmon is mouth watering good. My favorite restaurant in Menomonie.

We have eaten at Skoogs a few times with varying results. The first time we went on a week night on the spur of the moment, and everything was exceptional--food and service. we later went with more of the family to celebrate a birthday and everyone was pleased, although it was a Saturday night and more crowded and noisier, the food was still good. Then we went for dinner on New Year's Eve, something we like to do with as much of the family as is around, and although we had made reservations a week or more ahead, we had a long wait for seating, and then were seated at folding tables on the upper level, crowded with no decor. My steak was dried out and cold, plain fish was substituted for stuffed scallops (and the fish was just fish, no stuffing or other special touches), and the rest of the meal was very disappointing. I know it was New Year's eve, and busy, but they have been in the restaurant business for decades, and we had made reservations, and they had a limited menu for the evening.. It was a very disappointing meal, not at all what we had expected. And we were charged full price for the plain fish that we got instead of scallops.

I agree with the other review. This is the nicest restaurant that I have been to in the Chippewa Valley. The decor is great, the staff is amazing, and the meals are wonderful. I would suggest going for any of the entrees. The grilled chicken burger is also great, really fresh and tender. They also have a wonderful room on the second floor which can be rented out for private parties. I think it would be a great place for a big family outing!
