Chippewa Falls Writer’s Screenplay Wins Award in L.A.

Lauren Fisher |

Chippewa Falls resident Andrea Polnaszek won an award at the 26th annual Movieguide Awards Feb. 2 in Los Angeles for her screenplay, Switched. The work, which won the Kairos Pro competition for spiritually uplifting screenplays, follows the story of Cassandra, who prays that a cruel social media queen bee would see things her way. The pair somehow switch bodies, and learn to have compassion for one another through the experience. The Movieguide Awards recognize films that are family-friendly and faith-based. “This award inspires us to keep at it despite the challenges of succeeding in this art form,” Polnaszek said. Polnaszek is involved with Mustard Seed Entertainment along with her sister and brother-in-law, Alexandra Boylan and John K.D. Graham. Together, the trio has worked on Catching Faith, which was filmed in Chippewa Falls and featured on Netflix, and Wish for Christmas, which ran on Pureflix. A sequel to Catching Faith is in the works, with tentative plans to film in Chippewa Falls.
