No-Go on Former Huebsch Property Condos: Developers Pivot to Apartments

I've been wondering the same thing? Could it have something to do with the bridge rebuild next to this site which I believe is scheduled for next year. I think there is a pedestrian-bike underpass connecting to the trail by the Chamber bldg. being added with the bridge work so maybe they want that all done before they start.

A Plus for the Park

This problem is not unique to EC, many other cities over the years turned their backs on the rivers. But now they are seeing them as assets & encouraging redevelopment to focus on the rivers, including EC. Years ago when I was a student at UW-EC, a biology professor had an old EC newspaper article posted on his office door. The article encouraged people to settle in EC because it had 2 rivers flowing through it that provided a good place to dump all your garbage & it would be washed away.

6 Bits of Downtown Data

I know there is a lot of talk about getting more housing for low & moderate income people downtown and they need it but I also know of a good number of people that are looking for market rate apts. downtown & there just isn't anything available. Between all these different groups of people, 4-6 new big multistory apts. could be built downtown/Cannery Dist. & easily filled.

Images & Details: Developers Propose Big Block 7 Plans for Downtown Eau Claire

Thanks Tom for the info, some interesting concepts being proposed. How about an update on the status of the new city bus transfer station on Farwell...is there still going to be low-moderate income housing there? I see Owen-Ayres just added their sign on the UWEC-County Materials site on Menomonie St. so something should be in the works there also.
