campfire party band is everything but predictable

Everyone Orchestra: Nutty headwear is just one small part of the show.

The Everyone Orchestra (featuring members of the Flecktones, ALO, Chinese Fingertrap, Fat Maw Rooney, and Tea Leaf Green) will be improvising their collective genre-gaping talents at the Mabel Tainter Theater during their Everyone Together Now Midwest Tour. Conducted by founder Matt Butler, the Everyone Orchestra’s revolving door spirit has been joined by members of The Grateful Dead, Phish, moe., Taj Mahal as well as jugglers, firespinners, choirs, and chanters. “We pass the musical talking stick around the collective group of players and take turns leading the stage, much like sharing music around a campfire,” Butler said. “We also play musical improv games that I sometimes refer to as ‘music sports.’ Then we culminate in moments with everyone is on stage at once, playing conducted improvisations together.” And be prepared to be involved yourself, as Butler likes to hand the conducting duties to members of the audience as he gently unfastens any hindrance between stage and crowd to create, well, an Everyone Orchestra. Join a musical happening that lives for the moment and strives not for perfection but for harnessing the transports of musical delight. The night will be kicked into drive with an opening set by Fat Maw Rooney. Yeah, you read that right, they are also involved in Everyone Orchestra activities. This show is also a Fat Fest pre-party (Fat Fest is a musical festival hosted by Fat Maw Rooney) complete with a ticket give-away. Good people, many happenings, wonderful evening.
