Local Artists Named Best in Bayfield Show

A proud Terry Meyer.

Two Eau Claire local artists won awards at one of Wisconsin’s largest art festivals on July 25 and 26. Terry Meyer and Berry Weiss received best of show recognition at Bayfield’s 47th annual Festival of the Arts. Meyer, a self taught watercolorist, just moved to the Eau Claire area in the last year. Weiss works in crystalline glazed pottery, which is a less traditional style of stoneware. Both artists have had showings at the Open Air Festival of the Arts among other venues in the area. The festival, which is held on the shores of Lake Superior, brings in over 90 artists and gives away hundreds of dollars in prizes, but only five Best in Show Awards. Both Meyer and Weiss were pleased with the festival and its outcome. “It was quite an honor,” Weiss said, “one that I did not expect.”
