If you are not going to be out slaying deer in the woods of greater Wisconsin on Saturday, November 21, make your way down to the House of Rock for the WHYS Radio’s “Deer Hunters Widows Ball.” Outstanding live music from Bitter Roots, Hey Joe, Evergreen Grass Band, and the Jim Pullman Band will start at 9 and go all night. The proceeds will benefit community radio station WHYS 96.3FM, a non-profit, all-volunteer. Crossing the border from the Twin Cities, The Bitter Roots are far from bitter sounding. They provide a mellow, yet upbeat jam band-ish tone that is both unique and utterly entertaining. For more local flavor, the eclectic group of seasoned musicians known as Evergreen Grass Band, known to put on a high-energy show, will play their signature mix of bluegrass-infused originals, tight vocals, and some eccentric cover songs. Likewise for indie rockers Jim Pullman Band with their infectious melodies that pull you in, while rhythm washes over you. You won’t get this kind of musical action in the tree stand.
