Player’s unwind with Carson Park’s new Slip ‘n Slide.

If you’ve somehow missed out on attending an Eau Claire Express game so far this season, now is the most exciting time to come to Carson Park. July 20 will bring some of the best players from the entire league together for the Northwoods League All-Star Game. To whet your appetite for baseball, Harmon Killebrew, long-time Twins player and a 13-time All-Star himself, will speak at a banquet to honor the players the day prior, on Monday, July 19 at Florian Gardens. In Killebrew’s 22-year career he was second only to Babe Ruth in American League homeruns. As the home run derby takes off the following afternoon, MLB scouts will be in attendance for batting and fielding practice. Andy Neborak, the Express’ Interim GM, said a fan fest will be provided and is excited for it. “I think it’s a great opportunity to give our fans a chance to see some of the top talent in the NWL, and it gives them something different to attend at our ballpark,” he said. The fan fest will take place at 4pm (before the homerun derby) and includes autograph signings by both teams and some fun events for kids. Carson Park is one of the nicest parks in the league, in Neborak’s opinion. “It is a great opportunity to showcase our ballpark to people coming from outside of Eau Claire. I think it does a lot to generate interest in the league itself in the community.” The game will follow the derby and fireworks will conclude the night.
