To date, shipwrecks located by Lightfoot: zero.

Over the years, the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center has brought the Chippewa Valley some of the best local and national touring performances this area has ever had the privilege to see. Continuing with this tradition, Canadian country and folk artist Gordon Lightfoot will be performing at The State on Oct. 12. During his career, which has spanned more than 50 years, Lightfoot has topped the charts in both Canada and the U.S. He has been nominated for five Grammys and has recorded 20 albums, including Gord’s Gold (a compilation of greatest hits) and Sundown. Famous for songs such as If You Could Read My Mind, Sundown, Rainy Day People, and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, which is based on the true story of a ship that sank in Lake Superior, Gordon Lightfoot began his career in Canada in the mid 60s. At the age of 71, Lightfoot is still touring at venues throughout Canada and the states. Attendees that are not as familiar with his music will enjoy the mellow relaxing sound of his tenor/baritone voice and the slower folk-style melodies.
