The Reitz stuff.
The Chippewa Valley Community Chorus has passed the baton (director’s wand, perhaps?) to Cathy Reitz, talented choral director at Delong Middle School. On Jan. 11, Reitz will take the stand, bringing with her 29 years of experience teaching choral music in Wisconsin. The Community Chorus, who accepts any interested vocalists and whose repertoire ranges from classical/religious to popular and gospel, rehearses at the Heyde Center Tuesday nights. Their hard work culminates with a concert there on March 12 and 13. “It’s nice because it’s not a whole year’s commitment,” said Reitz. The incumbent director, Val Knobloch, attended St. Norbert’s with Reitz and sings alongside her in the Master Singers. “I was going to wait two years, until I maybe retire, but Val asked me so I said, ‘Why not?’ ” said Reitz. She said their first theme will be “A Choral America: Songs that Shape our Country.” “It’s lighthearted and fun,” she said. Visit TheCVCC.blogspot.com for more information.
