Minneapolis Rockers Maudlin Stop by Eau Claire

Taylor Kuether |

A little bit Yeah Yeah Yeahs, a little bit Pains of Being Pure of Heart, and a lot rock. Maudlin, a Minneapolis-based indie rock band made up of David and Priscilla Priebe and Nick Larsen, is playing in Eau Claire on March 23 at House of Rock. Maudlin is catchy in a subdued sort of way, reminiscent of the rock you listened to in high school while at the same time feeling fresh. While not outright dance-y, their tunes definitely warrant the hipster head bob or, if you’re feeling bold, foot tap. Their show promises volume, and openers Ronald Raygun and Electrolyte Empire are especially fitting to Maudlin’s style. The band compares their sound to The Pixies and Weezer “before they sucked,” both of which are spot-on.
