The third annual Grass on the Chippewa will be held at its new location of Tarrant Park in Durand. The festival will feature 12 bluegrass bands that will take the stage over a period of two days. “Grass on the Chippewa is an event whose goal is to evoke positive change through the power of music,” stated Dan Collins, a member of the planning committee for the Bluegrass Festival. The bands include Cedar Valley, Highway 52, Forest Ridge, East Hill Bluegrass Band, The High ‘48s, Evergreen Grass Band, White Iron Band, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, Seeger Boys, Shad Cobb, Absent Minded String Band, and Boys ‘N the Barrels. Food and concession stands will be available at the festival and those of all ages are welcome. Camping will be available next to the festival. Reservations for camping must be made at the Durand City Hall. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Pedals Plus in Eau Claire, Acoustic Café in Menominee and the Heike Pharmacy and Village Inn Café in Durand. The proceeds of the event go to the Pepin County Senior Council. (The Pepin County Senior Council is a non-profit group that provides activities and trips for senior citizens).
