If there is one name in American theater that everyone should know it’s Neil Simon. If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting this man’s genius plays, you now have the opportunity to at Fanny Hill in Eau Claire. Through Nov. 3, Barefoot in the Park (one of Neil Simon’s most famous plays) is showing. Barefoot in the Park is a comedy about a newlywed couple learning about the ups and downs of being married. Additionally, one of them is the straight-up lawyer-type while the other is calm and willing to go with the flow of life (think the TV series Dharma and Greg). Given that this is one of Simon’s most famous plays, and he has written over 30 plays and just as many screenplays, it was easy for it to be chosen for production at Fanny Hill. It is described as “a story with universal appeal, crisp dialog, and colorful characters” that is sure to make for a great evening of excellent theatre. Additionally, it is Fanny Hill’s 35th year and in those years they have produced 186 shows and given more than 9,000 performances for nearly 1 million patrons. You’ll be in excellent hands for a great show. Dinner and show tickets are available for purchase in addition to just the show tickets. Evening curtain time is 8pm with dinner reservations starting at 5:30pm and matinee curtain time is at 1:30pm with dining at noon.
