Feel the Love at Romance Writers Conference

Amanda Luft |

If you have a (metaphorical) book inside you that’s crying out to be written and published, mark your calendar for the 2016 conference of The Wisconsin Romance Writers of America (WisRWA), held Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Plaza Hotel & Suites, 1202 W. Clairemont Ave, in Eau Claire. This year’s event, titled “Fall into Fiction,” features best-selling author Candace Havens as the keynote speaker and workshop leader. (Not into romance novels? No worries; the programs focus on all genres of fiction.) Havens is an expert at writing fiction and getting it published. She’s written dozens of books for Samhain, Harlequin, and other well-known publishers, as well as a biography of Joss Whedon (creator of TV shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly). She’s also an entertainment journalist; her columns appear in more than 600 newspapers across the country. When she’s not writing, she’s working as an editorial director at Entangled Publishing or leading her own writing workshops. The conference begins Saturday, Oct. 8. Registration opens at 5pm Friday, followed by a Havens book signing and a pizza party. For more information or to register for this one-day fiction-writing intensive, visit wisrwa.org/calendar.
