Little Mermaid Swims Again

Children’s Theatre stages fishy encore production

It seems Ariel just couldn’t get enough of the Chippewa Valley! Once again, Ariel’s underwater world will rise from the sea (or Chippewa River) and become a part of your world. The Eau Claire Children’s Theatre will perform an encore production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid from Nov. 18 through 20. A classic love story, The Little Mermaid is about a young mermaid, Ariel, who desperately wants to be a part of the human world. When she enters into a deal with the sea witch Ursula, however, her presence in both worlds becomes complicated. The Little Mermaid was most recently performed in Eau Claire this past April at the State Theatre, but the ECCT felt there was more to be desired from the well loved musical. The popularity of The Little Mermaid story is well justified. Since its release by Disney in 1989, it continues to entrance young children and unearth nostalgic feelings in young adults. Also, don’t forget to attend Ariel’s Underwater Adventure, a meet and greet at noon on Saturday, Nov. 19. Enjoy treats, games, crafts, and hang out with your favorite characters. Tickets are available online at ecct.org or by phone at (715) 839-8877. Eau Claire
