Are you a female working towards becoming an entrepreneur? Do your aspirations include opening up a new and original business? Rebecca Cook, owner of Red’s Mercantile, 224 N. Dewey St., has created the Red Letter Grant program to help women just like you. The deadline is 11pm May 15 to apply for one of the $2,000 grants, two of which will be awarded May 31. (If you miss the deadline, don’t worry: Two more grants will be given out in November.) Cook’s objective is to empower women around the Eau Claire area through the grants, which will provide the winners with financial support needed to launch their businesses. “Offering capital will help minimize the financial risk and fear of taking the plunge,” Cook explains. Want to support the continuation of the Red Letter Grant? Support Red’s Mercantile! A portion of every sale at the downtown Eau Claire boutique is set aside to fund the grant.
