A $900,000 federal grant will help Chippewa Valley Technical College bring manufacturing and information technology education to four rural high schools. U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, D-La Crosse, announce the National Science Foundation grant in June. “This grant provides a tremendous opportunity for more young people to learn about how automation, programming, and networking are used in modern industrial settings,” said CVTC President Bruce Barker. High schools in Menomonie, Durand, Owen-Withee, and Greenwood will get visits from CVTC’s Mobile Manufacturing Lab, will benefit from teacher training, will be able to start robotics clubs, and students will be able to earn industry-recognized credentials before graduation.
