Previously staged in the Chippewa Valley Technical College parking lot in Eau Claire, the Eau Claire Big Rig Truck Show has grown too large for its original home, and has hit the highway for the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Chippewa Falls. The eighth annual show is putting the new space to good use this year with a few new and exciting additions. The three-day event will run Friday, Aug. 18, through Sunday, Aug. 20. Featuring big rig trucks ranging from antique to military grade, there’s sure to be a lot to see. There will be appearances by professional race car drivers; Alex Debogorski, the original ice-road trucker; chainsaw artist Leesa Syryczuk; as well as music by Rich Schroeder and Probable Cause on Friday and Saturday nights. What is most exciting, though, is this year’s landmark addition: The Eau Claire Big Rig Truck Show is featuring two nights of monster truck shows with a motocross team performing during intermission. If tricked-out over-the-road trucks aren’t your thing, you’ll still be able to enjoy yourself at a raging monster truck show. These trucks are the real deal, so it is advised that you bring ear protection (especially for the little ones). There are light shows planned after each show. Great food and beer stands will be ava`ilable all weekend, and Sunday will close out with the show’s first ever Backwoods BBQ Cook Off. So put the hammer down and convoy your way to Chippewa Falls.
