It’s back! The ninth annual Powder Keg Snowshoe and Fat-Bike Race roars into the Chippewa Valley once again. On Saturday, Jan. 27, join fellow winter sports enthusiasts at the Eau Claire Expo Center and Lowes Creek County Park. All ages are welcome to attend. If you’re not a snowshoe expert, don’t worry! Event staff will offer snowshoe demos, and Northern Lites snowshoes will be available to check out.

The event, which is sponsored by the Chippewa Off Road Bike Association, will feature a 5k/10k snowshoe race along with a 12-mile/24-mile fat-bike race, combined long/short events, and a 1-mile snowshoe hike. Cost varies by race and age, typically between $30-$50. Remember: Stay warm and stop by the chili feed. And, if you entered by Jan. 11, you get an event hat. Have a good time, racers!
