Chippewa Valley Book Fest Reveals Some Cool Details

Emilee Wentland |

For the second year in a row, the Chippewa Valley Book Festival will have a Pulitzer Prize-winning author in its line-up. The 19th annual fall festival will feature Caroline Fraser, who won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Best Biography for her book Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Fraser served as editor of the Library of America edition of Wilder’s legendary Little House on the Prairie series. Fraser’s Oct. 23 presentation will be one the first events taking place at the new Pablo Center at the Confluence. The festival will also feature numerous other notable scribes, including Eau Claire’s Nickolas Butler, who will preview his new novel, Little Faith; Molly Patterson, UW-Eau Claire professor and author of Rebellion; Ojibwe writer David Treuer, author of Rez Life; and Kevin Young, author of Bunk, who will speak on the topic of “fake news” as part of the UWEC Forum. These authors and more will give presentations on reading and writing throughout the festival, which runs Oct. 15-25. The festival highlights books in three categories: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The festival will include events throughout the Valley at places such as the Pablo Center, UWEC, libraries, and the Chippewa Valley Museum. Learn more at cvbookfest.org.
