Prevea Health and City of Altoona leaders announced two new developments in the city’s new River Prairie development on Oct. 26.

First, the Green Bay-based healthcare organization plans to build a new two-story, 30,500-square-foot medical office building in River Prairie. Dr. Ashok Rai, president and CEO of Prevea, revealed the new office building project, which will be constructed on Woodman Drive and is slated to open in the fall of 2019. Construction will use environmentally friendly practices and locally sourced materials.

“The City of Altoona has done a phenomenal job in making River Prairie Park a destination for fun, health and wellness,” Rai said. “We are proud to partner with them to continue making it a family-friendly, wellness-focused attraction for many years to come.”

The location will offer a range of specialty healthcare services, including family medicine, women’s care, urgent care, and more.

Altoona Mayor Brendan Pratt and Altoona City Manager Mike Golat also announced that Prevea has also agreed to provide funding to maintain River Prairie Park. As part of this partnership, the park’s amphitheater will be named the Prevea Amphitheater at River Prairie Park starting Jan. 1.

“Their sponsorship of the amphitheater at River Prairie will go a long way in helping the city maintain and program River Prairie Park as well as promote healthy activities in our community,” Pratt said.

Rai added: “As Wayne Gretzky says, ‘You don’t skate to where the puck has been, you skate to where it’s going. Well the puck is going to Altoona.”
