Eau Claire Library to Stream Local Music on Digital Platform

Eric Christenson |

The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library is seeking local musicians for its new online streaming and download platform, Sawdust City Sounds. Local artists can submit albums now through Sunday, Jan. 13. Library staff and local music experts will select up to 25 albums that will be available through Sawdust City Sounds for patrons to check out and stream. Library Director Pamela Westby says, “The library has always offered access to the work of local artists, of course, but these curated collections have been extremely helpful for people who are interested in local culture and looking for an introduction to the scene.” Artists, if you’re selected, you’ll get $200 and a bunch of exposure to local library patrons. Pretty cool. Sawdust City Sounds is scheduled to launch this spring. Anyone will be able to stream the music, and L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library cardholders will be able to download songs for free. To learn more and submit your tunes, visit www.sawdustcitysounds.org/submit
